Deck the halls with boughs of holly fa la la la la la la! As you are singing along have you ever considered what the actual song was referring to?
“Deck” is a verb meaning adorn, “boughs” are leafy branches and “holly” is a type of plant traditionally associated with Christmas.
With all that in mind we interpret it to mean to decorate your home for the holidays with garlands! Put a garland on it!
Garlands come in many different varieties and lengths. In West Texas “fresh” garlands are hard to use in our dry climate. Faux greens are a wonderful fill in, have a realistic look and feel and best of all they last for many years. The standard traditional green faux pine garland is 9” long. Many of the novelty garlands, like florals, balls, snowflakes and more are usually 6’ in length.
There are many places “to deck the halls” in your home.
Fireplaces where the stockings are hung is always a great place to place or hang a garland.
Kitchen hutches adorned with a decorated garland and Christmas dishes sets a festive Holiday scene.
Bookcases or shelves framed with a beautifully decorated garland add the perfect holiday touch to the living room!
Staircases provide an ideal spot to use a lit faux mixed green garland, with beautiful bows and coordinating stockings!
The options are endless, a bedroom headboard draped, bathroom mirrors framed out, kids bedroom doorways……fa la la la la la la la!
Happy Decorating Yall!
