Show Me: A Sweet Charity Cause!

by Kathy Becky |

Christmas is a time of enjoying sweets, treats and gifts! We love to share our sweet gifts through charity causes. Every year, The Museum of the Southwest hosts it's annual "Christmas at the Mansion." Guest decorators, shops and individuals decorate the large home, room by room for Christmas. This year we chose the beautiful breakfast room with wood details and pink walls. The natural light in this room made a perfect spot for enjoying breakfast or coffee by the original owners, the Turners.

We started with a trip to see the room, take pictures, measurements and learn what shop was supplying the furniture. We learned that the Cat's Meow (a local antique furniture and clothing store) would be our partner.

The next Show Me Decorating step is to pick a theme or color story. One of our favorite looks this season was a gingerbread “sweet shop” look and the theme would be a perfect fit. And what Gingerbread house doesn't involve some pink?

A flocked tree and garland reminded us of frosting on a cake just begging to be decorated. The ribbons chosen were a red and gold plaid, multi colored plaid, stripe and decorated gingerbread men. The Gold Show Me Decorating Ball Kit created a great base and mimicked the color of a baked cookie. Red Show Me Decorating poinsettias and whimsical floral multicored picks complimented the overall theme. Bright colored snowcapped candy balls, oversized gingerbread men and houses finished out this Sweet Candy Christmas!
